RELAX AND PULL UP A SEAT

My Background

I have always been driven by empathy—curious about what truly helps us heal and passionate about empowering others to reclaim their strength. Today I am a therapist, author, TED speaker and trainer, and host of The Sensitivity Doctor podcast.

My work centers on helping people heal from trauma, navigate relationships, and embrace their sensitivity and neurodivergence—especially those who’ve been told they’re “too much” for too long. I take an integrative, trauma-informed approach, blending science with heart. I meet people where they are, and I believe healing isn’t one-size-fits-all.

In addition to talk therapy, I’m trained in art therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and Brainspotting—powerful tools for working with ADHD, emotional abuse, and relationship trauma. As a certified yoga and meditation teacher, I weave in mind-body practices when they support healing. Beyond the therapy room, I serve as a public speaker, trainer, and workplace sensitivity analyst, bringing a broader lens to healing that includes advocacy, education, and systemic change.

My private practice is part of the Traumatic Stress Research Consortium at the Kinsey Institute, and I teach psychology at Yorkville University. I’ve shared insights on NPR’s The Measure of Everyday Life, SiriusXM’s Doctor Radio, and other outlets covering trauma, healing, and modern relationships.

I’ve also written books like Powered by ADHD, Gaslighting Recovery for Women, What I Wish I Knew, and Surviving Suicidal Ideation—each designed to make healing more accessible, practical, and empowering. My writing can also be found in Psychology Today, ADDitude Magazine, Highly Sensitive Refuge, and other publications.
